Getting accommodation

The search for the perfect accommodation option is an important step in a student's life, but it's not always easy to know where to start...

Here are a few tips and suggestions to help you find your accommodation!

University halls and residences

The Crous offers:

  • On Le Mans campus: 716 rooms in university halls of residence (from 9 to 18m²) and 205 rooms in university residences (from 21 to 31m²).
  • On the Laval campus: 150 rooms in university residences (from 19 to 31m²).

These Crous accommodations are allocated on the basis of social criteria. To qualify, you must apply for a scholarship by creating an application for grant/scholarship and accommodation (DSE).

 

Other options

You can look for private accommodation in Le Mans or Laval via the Lokaviz service, the Crous student accommodation platform.

The Youth Information Centres in the city of Le Mans and Laval provide a free service for individuals to offer accommodation to other individuals, without agency, notary or list dealing fees.

Le Mans Métropole Habitat also offers housing (from studio to T5 on an individual or shared basis) throughout the city.

Le Flore and Le Relais in Le Mans or the Habitat Jeunes association in Laval offer furnished accommodation.

Accommodation for a short stay

Crous offers short-stay accommodation packages for an internship, a competition or an examination in 40 cities in France. Booking via the Bed&Crous platform.

Le Flore and Le Relais in Le Mans offer accommodation for one night.

 

CAF accommodation aid (APL)

The CAF offers you support with your application for accommodation aid (online simulator, guide to the steps involved in making your application, etc.).

You can also call 0 810 29 29 29 (cost of a local call from a landline), to speak to an adviser directly, Monday to Friday, from 09:00 to 17:00. He will help you with your housing aid applications.

The University student welfare officers are also available to help you with your search for accommodation and your application for a grant/scholarship or an APL.

 

Getting around

To get to the campuses, you can walk, come by public transport, by car or by bike - it’s up to you! The campuses have free car parks and bicycles.

 

In Le Mans

Public transport

Setram trams and buses serve all parts of Le Mans Métropole. Le Mans campus is served by the T1 tram (during the week, excluding school holidays: a tram every 6 minutes).

Student subscription allows you to make unlimited trips on the Bus + Tram network during the period in question at a preferential rate.

Bike rental

Rent by the day, for one or three months, or for one year. You can choose between a conventional or folding bike or an electric bike. Setram subscribers enjoy a preferential rate.

Trains

The city of Le Mans is served by trains. It is possible to reach the campus in 17 minutes directly from the SNCF station with the tram (line T1).

Car pooling

Free car pooling parking Vinci Autoroutes near the campus (exit no.8, A11).

 

In Laval

Bus

TUL buses serve the entire campus and the 20 municipalities in the urban conurbation. The youth – 26 years subscription allows you to make unlimited trips on the network during the period in question at a preferential rate.

Bike rental

Velitul is the bike rental service offered by the Laval conurbation: rent by the day, for a week or for a year, it’s your choice.

Trains

The city of Laval is served by trains and the train station is 20 minutes walk from the campus. Several bus lines connect the station to the campus.
